10 Things You Should Definitely Do Over The Holidays
Sure, we get it, it's the end of the year, there are some great movies being shown on the TV, you're back home and you can smell your mom's amazing cooking from three rooms away. The temptation during this time is just to set up camp on the couch with some snacks and a huge blanket and not leave until the New Year, but we are here to suggest to you that the Christmas holidays can actually be a much more productive time that you might think. Here are ten things that you should definitely do during the holidays.
1. Apply For Scholarships/Internships
It's never too early to think about your future. Get a jump on the competition by spending some time drafting and sending applications to the scholarships and internships that you have had your eye on since the summer.
There is something about baking that is insanely therapeutic, but unlike actual therapy, once the session has ended, you get to sample all of the delicious treats that you have made! You can even share them with your family if you're feeling generous.
3. Catch Up With Old Friends
Use your time back in your hometown to catch up with the once great friends that you have lost touch with since being at college. You would be surprised by how quickly things slip back in to place.
I know, exercise feels like the last thing you want to do during the holidays, but if you put even a little bit of effort in, you won't feel as bad when you are tucking in to your fifth turkey sandwich of the day!
5. Plan Your Schedule
Why not sit down and write out a plan for next semester? You will be thankful for your foresight when you get back to college and everybody else is still treading water.
6. Touch Up Your Resume
This is a great tip, especially if you are in the last year of college. Take some time to make your resume as up to date as possible and you will be able to start applying for jobs right away after graduation.
7. Do Some Reading
Reading for pleasure is something that college students don't really get to do, so make the most of your time off and whiz through a couple of the latest best sellers!
8. Spend Time With Family
Reconnect with your family, college can be overwhelming and take up all of your time, so it's good to carve out some time just for them.
9. See A Movie
Some of the best movies of the year come out at Christmas, so get down to the theatre and make sure you can be part of the Oscars conversation!
There is nothing more rewarding than giving back at Christmas, do some volunteering at a local charity.
