Scholarship Opportunity From Rihanna! Don't Miss It!

Anybody who has listened to Rihanna's latest album will know that the song ‘Work' is one of the best and most memorable tracks on the record, but now it seems as though the Caribbean singer has taken her ‘Work' ethic to a whole new level by creating a sponsorship program for young people to benefit from with regards to their education. The Barbados born R&B superstar has just announced the creation of a global scholarship in conjunction with her Clara Lionel Foundation, and this venture will award much needed scholarships to both domestic and international students who have dreams of attending a college in the United States of America.

Though the singer makes her millions by being an entertainer for the world, Rihanna is very passionate about the importance of education in a young person's life and she believes it can hold the key to a better future. When asked about her decision to begin this scholarship program, the singer stated “to be able to give the gift of education is actually an honor … higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this”. This latest philanthropic move is just one instance in a very long line of charitable works by Rihanna, who has consistently proven herself to be the kind of celebrity who does not forget where she came from, and wants to use the advantages she has now to better the lives of others who are not currently in such a privileged position.

In order to be eligible for Rihanna's scholarship, applicants need to be a resident of Barbados, Cuba, Brazil, Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti or the United States, and they must also have already been accepted on to a bachelor's degree program at any accredited four-year university or college in the United States for the upcoming 2016-2017 academic year. The number of scholarship recipients is based on need and there is no set number of students that the program is limited to. In fact, according to the latest announcement, the goal of the foundation is to be able to accept as many qualifying students as possible.

Scholarships will be awarded in the range of $5000 to $50000 depending on personal circumstances, and these amounts have the potential to be renewed for the three additional years or until a student's bachelor's degree has been earned, which ever instance happens first.

Applications for the next college admissions year are open now and will remain open until June 10th 2016. A specially selected committee will sift through all of the applications and select of group of 50 finalists to screen based on leadership qualities, academic performance, extra curricular activity participation, involvement in any community based initiatives, previous work experience and finally a carefully written personal essay.
